5 Simple Ways to Take Your Promoting from Good to Awesome
Being a Party Promoter is hard work, how well you perform is dependent on several factors – including the time and commitment you put into it.
You want your event promotion to pay off – but what makes an event successful? It’s not just about the ticket sales (although that’s important), you want to build a reputation and encourage people to keep coming back to see what you’re doing, share your news and events with their friends, and become regular customers.
Here are 5 Simple Tips to help you and ensure your event will be a success:
Know the Tools and Tech that Can Help Your Event
Trying to manage everything on the fly is not a good idea – you need to start simple and make an event promotion checklist. Put down everything that needs to be done, everything that needs to be booked, and all the legal requirements that need to be covered – then you can sort these into priority order. Tick them off as they’re done – and you’re less likely to discover later that you’ve missed something important!
With your online Promotion, you can use social media to connect with an enormous number of people – but to make your event a success, you need to be directing your content and messages to those who are likely to buy your tickets. Make use of social media tools to identify who your audience are – what they like, what brands they’re interested in, and what they want from an event – and you can better focus your efforts.
You Need to Pay Up – Don’t Risk Success by Cutting Corners
Event management success doesn’t come from cutting corners – of course you want to be careful with your budget, but you need to make sure that what really needs paying for (a good venue, great artists, proper equipment, an advertising budget, etc.) is covered.
Delegate Responsibilities to See an Awesome Event
No event is run alone – and when you’re Promoting, even as a single person, there are still ways to get other people involved.
If you’re working with a team, you should look at your Promotion Checklist and share out the responsibilities – just make sure that you keep track of what everyone’s doing and encourage them to check in regularly, so you know the tasks are being done!
“Having other people to share the triumphs and troubles with will keep you in it for long enough to start seeing the benefits.” – Phil Morse, DJ & Digital DJ Tips Founder
As a group or an individual, you should also be speaking with the Events Manager at your chosen venue and the Artists you’ve booked for your event – make sure that your event is listed in any promotional material they send out (such as newsletters, what’s on pages, etc.) as well as on their website/s, and social media channels.
You need to make sure you give the Venue and your Artists all the information they need to promote your event easily – so this will include: date, time, location, any restrictions (such as age), dress code (if appropriate), who’s coming, and clear properly sized images of your flyer / poster and any other promotional images / videos you have. You also need to make sure they’ve got the link to your website (if you have one) and a link to where customers can buy tickets.
You Need to Have a Back Up Plan for Your Event
It’s an unfortunate fact of life that not everything always goes according to plan. You need to brainstorm all the possible things that could go wrong, and what you would do if they happened – from an Artist backing out, to a power-cut, to queues becoming too long – you need to prepare yourself and your team, so that any problems can quickly be resolved without inconveniencing your audience more than necessary.
Take Your Event to the Next Level – Be Creative!
With so many events going on all through out the year, you need to do something that is going to make people stop and take notice.
“Being completely original can be risky, but the rewards are huge. If you come up with a fresh idea that really connects with clubbers, you will likely be able to grow your brand, start hosting bigger club nights, and even launch a whole career in running club nights, throwing parties, and even founding a club of your own.” – MN2S, Talent Booking & Record Label Services
Make sure you take advantage of advertising and promotion that is beneficial to your brand, consider working with Influencers and looking at merchandising or sponsorship opportunities.
